Betty S. (McCool) Neff

Betty M. Neff, 91, formerly of Millheim, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Westminster Woods in Huntingdon.  Born May 22, 1925 in Spring Mills, Betty is a daughter of the late John T. and Mabel (Crater) McCool.  She was a 1943 graduate of Gregg Township Vocational School.  On January 1, 1944, she married George G. Neff, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 28, 1995.

Betty and her husband George were the owner/operators of the George G. Neff, Jr. Funeral home in Millheim for many years.  She was also employed as a bank teller with the former Farmer’s National Bank and Omega Bank.  Betty was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim, Centre Chapter #207 of the Eastern Star, where she served as treasurer for 42 years and a former member of the Penns Valley Women’s Club.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Miller (John) of State College and Wendy L. Gibbs of Huntingdon; four grandchildren, Scott Miller (Kristin), Ryan Miller (Alison), Taylor Gibbs and Trey Gibbs; and four great grandchildren, Ty, Ella, McKenna and Adalin Miller.  Also surviving is one sister: Beverly Garbrick (Henry), two nieces, Teri Statham and Toni Witherite and one nephew, Tom Garbrick. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 27th from 10-noon at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral will follow at noon with Pastor Suzanne Morelli officiating.  Betty will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  Contributions in her memory may be given to St John’s Lutheran Church, Po Box 439, Millheim, Pa 16854 or to St. James Lutheran Church, 525 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, Pa. 16652.
