Dorothy D. (Dering) Albright

Dorothy D. Albright, formerly of Spring Mills, passed from this life on Thursday March 2nd at her home in Kent, WA.  She was 84.  Born March 22, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Dorothy was a daughter of the late George D. and S. Mae “Fredd” Dering.  She was a 1951 graduate of Perry County High School.  On September 15, 1966, Dorothy married J. Walter Albright, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2014.

Dorothy is survived by one son, Steven A. Stirrett of Kent, WA.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Mae Bennington and Nell Hite, and four brothers, George, Horace, Robert and Donald Dering. 

Dorothy was employed at the former Gettig Technologies in Spring Mills, retiring with 25 years of service.  She was a member of the former St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, now New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills, also the Spring Mills Senior Citizens Club, the Black Panther Riding/Camping Club, Gregg Township Ladies Auxiliary, and the Christian Women’s Club.  Dorothy was very active in volunteer work, including the Lutheran Church Women’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (LCW RSVP) who made blankets for World Relief.  She also volunteered at the Bloodmobile at Old Fort and in the donation center at the former Laurelton State Village.  In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, crafts, crocheting and knitting. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 9th from 6-8 pmat New Hope Lutheran Church, Rte. 45 in Spring Mills.  The funeral will be held at the church on Friday, March 10th at 10:30am with Pastor Brandon Cian officiating.  Dorothy will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spring Mills.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be given New Hope Lutheran Church, Po Box 96, Spring Mills, PA 16875 or to Gregg Township Ladies Auxiliary, Po Box 82, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
