Frances E. (Stover) Bowersox

Frances E. Bowersox, 87, of Rebersburg, passed away on Thursday, October 5th at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte.  Born September 30, 1927 in Lock Haven, Frances was a daughter of the late Nile L. and Sarah “Diehl” Stover.  She was a 1948 graduate of Miles Township High School.  On October 27, 1949, she married Jay A. Bowersox, who preceded her in death on November 22, 1988.

Frances was employed at Penn State University in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1990 with 20+ years of service.  She was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Rebersburg.  Frances enjoyed working in her flower beds, gardening; then canning the fruits of her labors and bowling.  She also volunteered at the Millheim Outreach Center. 

Frances is survived by one daughter, Karen L. Hayes (Richard) of Commerce City, CO; one son, D. Keith Bowersox (Michele) of Rockwell, NC; siblings, David Stover, Shirley Burrell, Peg Becker, Sandy Turzak (Gary), and one sister in law, Arlene Stover.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by one son, Craig Bowersox and one brother, Donald Stover.

A memorial service for Frances will be held on Monday, October 9th beginning at 10:30 am at St. Peters United Church of Christ in Rebersburg, with Pastor Julie Holm officiating.  Frances will be laid to rest in the UCC & Lutheran Cemetery in Rebersburg.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Frances may be given to St Peters UCC, c/o Beth Haas, 251 View Drive, Rebersburg PA 16872.
