H. Virginia (Weiser) Boob

H. Virginia (Weiser) Boob, 88, of Millheim passed peacefully from this life at home Sunday, March 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born in Altoona on May 18, 1926 to the late David Dewitt and Helen Elizabeth (Kramer) Weiser. Virginia was a 1944 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. Her husband Donald was in the same class, and they started “going steady” when they were juniors. Donald and Virginia were married on January 3, 1946 and spent 69 years together.

Virginia was a homemaker, who also worked as a nursing assistant to Dr. F.M. Henniger for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.  She enjoyed reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and traveling. Virginia was most happy when spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two  brothers:  David Franklin and Donald Dewitt Weiser and six sisters:  Evelyn Elizabeth Hammer, Francis Jane Cassidy, Charlotte Mae Weiser, Dorothy Jean Bowersox, Ruth Ann Haugh, and Catherine Louise Weiser.

Besides her husband Don, Virginia is survived by her daughter Donna (Jim) Ditlow of Hummelstown and two sons: Dana (Joy) Boob of Millheim and Douglas (Connie) Boob of Spring Mills. Also surviving are her brother Henry Kurtz of Maryland, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 11:15 AM until noon at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home 120 W. Main Street, PO Box 437 Millheim, PA  16854.  The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Dawn Marie Meier.  Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s name to the Salem United Church of Christ, 4469 Penns Valley Road Spring Mills, PA 16875 or the Centre Crossings Hospice, 2437 Commercial Blvd. #6 State College, PA 16801.
