Inez (Plumley) Confer, 90, of Spring Mills, passed on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont PA. She was born on February 18, 1925 in Pottstown, PA to the late Russell Ellwood and Florence (Hookway) Plumley. Inez married Quentin Ulysses Confer, who preceded her in death in 1996.

After graduating high school, Inez enlisted in the United States Navy as an Apprentice Seaman.  She obtained an Honorable Discharge then enrolled in Temple University graduating in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She taught at a few schools including The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and Laurelton. Inez finished her teaching career substituting for the Penns Valley School District.

Inez was a member of the Saint James United Methodist Church, Coburn. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading, and traveling. Most of all Inez enjoyed time spent with her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Inez was preceded in death by a brother, James Plumley, and a daughter-in-law Janie (Corl) Confer.

Inez is survived by her daughter, GayLynne (Duke) Shouey, son, Russell C. (Debra) Confer all of Spring Mills; grandson, William J. (Sherri) Shouey of Spring Mills; granddaughter, Kimbra L. (Jared) Nyman of Bellefonte; grandsons, Michael, Kyler, Kolton, Quentin Confer of Spring Mills; great grandson, Wyatt Nyman of Bellefonte; great granddaughter, Macie Nyman of Bellefonte; brother, Joseph (Mary) Plumley of Sewell, NJ.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 W. Main Street, Millheim, PA  16854 from 11:00 AM to the time of funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Millheim.

Memorial contributions in Inez’s name may be made to the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 100 W. School House Lane Philadelphia, PA 19144.
