Marlene Ruth (Watkins) Corl, 80, of Millheim died peacefully surrounded by her two sons and daughter-in-law in the early morning of June 13, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was born February 19, 1935 in Johnstown, PA to her parents, Elvis Collie Watkins and Ruth Mae (Carbaugh) Watkins. She had a sister, Betty Jean (Watkins) Bobak and a brother, Richard Eldis Watkins. All preceded her in death. She married Allen Thomas Corl on May 19, 1984, who passed on September 30, 2000.

Surviving are her two sons; Robert (Deborah) Meyer of Vevay, IN and Richard (Ines) Meyer of State College, PA. Marlene has six grandchildren; Patience, Clifton, Clayton, Trayton, Quinton, and Scott, and two great-grandchildren; Gatlin and Gracelynn.

Marlene was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown High School. She also briefly attended Penn State University in the early 1980’s as a returning-adult, non-degree student. She lived in Miami, FL from 1958 until 1970, then in Millheim from 1971 until her death. Mrs. Corl began work at Laurelton Center in 1973 as a Clerk Typist in the Accounting Office, then later worked as a Guardian Officer for the center until her retirement in 1998, coinciding with the closure of Laurelton Center.

Marlene attended the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Rebersburg and was a member of the Millheim Borough Council since 1998. She enjoyed reading and loved collecting everything from thimbles to porcelain figurines. She also loved decorating her home for holidays, and one of her greatest joys was decorating for the Christmas season. Her home was always festive for every occasion. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made regular trips to visit them right up to the end of her life. She also found pleasure in cooking meals for the family.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16 followed by an 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Valerie Delooze officiating at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, Millheim. A private graveside service for family only will be held at the Fairview Cemetery, Millheim.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marlene’s name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor Norwalk, CT 06851. Online condolences to the family may be sent to stevenrnefffuneralhome.com.
