Mary Maye (Heckman) Horner

Mary Maye Horner, 84, of Spring Mills, passed from this life on March 29, 2016.  Born November 23, 1931 in Spring Mills, Mary Maye is a daughter of the late Eugene A. and Grace I. (Snyder) Heckman.  She was a graduate of Gregg Township Vocational School.  On March 1, 1955, she married Lawrence E. Horner who preceded her in death on April 25, 1993.

Mary Maye is survived by two daughters, Sharon M. Horner of Spring Mills, and Tammie K. Cahoon (Perry) of Pleasant Gap, one son; Laron E. Horner (Leeanna) of Spring Mills and two grandsons; Tanner McCool and Laine Horner.  She was preceded in death by her brother Ellwood Heckman and his wife, Miriam.

Mary Maye was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and the Spring Mills Lutheran Parish where she served many years as a council member.  She was a former member of the Gregg Township Ladies Auxiliary.  Mary Maye enjoyed reading, gardening and attending the Grange Fair where she had tented for more than 70 years.  She was well known for her mint ice tea.  Most of all, Mary Maye enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially on the front porch swing.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9-10:30 am on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, followed by the funeral at 10:30 with Pastor Brandon Cian officiating.  Mary Maye will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spring Mills.  Contributions in memory of Mary Maye may be given to New Hope Lutheran Church, Po Box 96, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
