Ocean Scitti

Ocean Scitti, 92, of Spring Mills passed away July 27, 2015 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Ocean was born May 25, 1923 in Bellefonte to Emilo and Maria (Moser) Scitti. He married Betty J. Richardson on November 12, 1960.

Ocean worked on his family farm when he was younger. He then worked at Myer Brothers Meats for 60+ years, retiring in 2006. He was a lifelong Democrat, and he served as a Committeeman for the Penns Valley Democrats. He ran for County Commissioner in 1996. He was a Penns Valley School Board member for two terms.

He was a member of the Spring Mill’s Fish and Game Commission and the Gregg Township Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting, volunteering at the Community Café at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in State College, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara J. (Scott) Luzier of Spring Mills; two grandchildren, Courtney A. Brungard and fiancé Dan Edwards of Pine Glenn and Devin O. Luzier of Spring Mills; one great grandson, Owen Gribble of Pine Glenn; one brother, Pacific (Joann) Scitti of Aaronsburg; two sisters, Ethel Green of Spring Mills and Delphina Jaworski of Bellefonte, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2009, and his four sisters; Vera Scitti, Mary Spicer, Esther Scitti, and Theresa Smith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at New Hope Lutheran Church, 119 Cobblestone Court, Spring Mills on July 31st with visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 followed by service. Rev. Brandon Cian will be officiating. Mr. Scitti will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Spring Mills. Memorial contributions may be sent to New Hope Lutheran Church.
