Randell “Randy” S. Wance. Of Avis, formerly of Millheim, died Tuesday, January 12 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1926 in Rebersburg, a son of the late Theodore R. and Emily (Sweeley) Wance. He was married to the late Pauline Joyce Rossman from 1948 until 1988.

Randy was a veteran of World War II and served in the Phillipines. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea and Vietnam. Upon completion of a 3 year assignment in Germany he retired as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. His Service Medals include: Good Conduct, Asiatic-Pacific Philippine Independence, World War II Victory and an Air Force Commendation Medal. After his Military Career he was employed at Penn State University in the position of Centralized Copy Center Services Supervisor, Office of Business Services, in September 1988 upon completion of 18 years.

Randy was a graduate of the Miles Township High School class of 1944. He was a life- long member of the American Legion Post 444 in Millheim. He was an avid baseball fan throughout his entire life and also an avid Penn State Football fan. After his retirement he snow birded to Arizona for the Cactus League spring training exhibition games. Randy was also a volunteer with the Office of Aging Meals on Wheels program in Lycoming County for over 10 years.

Randy was preceded in death by brother Alvin E. Lance and sister Miriam Ertel.

Survivors include  a son Ronnie E. Lance of Warriors Mark, daughter Barbara (Larry) Koch of McElhattan, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters Jean Stroble of Cogan Station, Dorothy Grenninger of Mill Hall, brother Charles Kunkle Jr. of Pennsylvania Furnace. Randy is also survived by his companion of 12 years, Betty Brown of Jersey Shore.

In keeping with Randy’s wishes there will be no public visitation and private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
