Robert William Rider

Surrounded by his family, Robert W. "Bobby" Rider, 69, of Spring Mills, formerly of State College, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 9, 2015.  Born May 12, 1945 in Spring Mills, Bobby was a son of the late Joseph W. and Lena V. (Herlocher) Rider.  He was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School.

Bobby is survived by 3 sisters and one brother, Miriam Tice (Melvin) of Spring Mills, Betty Bailey (Roger) of Centre Hall, David R. Rider (Mae "Reannie") of Spring Mills, Jenny Wolfe of Centre Hall and numerous nieces and nephews.  Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Port and two brother's- in - law; Franklin Wolfe and William Port.

Bobby was a longtime employee in the custodial department at the Unico Corporation which owns Uni-Mart.  He loved to visit his friends at the McDonalds every day for breakfast.  There he would engage in conversation with people, many were often unknown to him.  Inevitability, he would end the conversation with "have a nice day".  He was a member of Woodycrest United Methodist Church but has attended Grace Baptist Church with his sister Miriam since relocating to Spring Mills.  Bobby was a gentle, loving soul, he will be greatly missed.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-11 am on Thursday, February 12th at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor K. R. Mele officiating.  Bobby will be laid to rest in Green Grove Cemetery in Spring Mills.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bobby may be given to Family Life of Penns Valley, 219 N. Penna Ave., Centre Hall, Pa. 16828.  Arrangements are entrusted to Steven R. Neff Funeral Home.
