Rodney L. "Rod" Stevens

Rodney L. Stevens, 77, of Spring Mills, passed from this life on Monday, April 2nd, after a short battle with a brain tumor.  Rod emerged the victor as he passed from death unto life.  Born November 1, 1940 in Clearfield, Rod was a son of the late Howard and Norine "Bowes" Stevens.  He was a 1958 graduate of Clearfield High School.  On July 29, 1961 he married the love of his life, Dealise Y. Sager who survives at their home in Spring Mills.  Rod was employed as a Master Butcher, meat cutter and teacher at Bob Jones University in South Carolina, retiring with 30 plus years of service.  When he retired he and Dealise returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. 

In addition to his wife, Rod is survived by two daughters, Deborah J. Litzenberger (Richard) of Shawnee, KS and Valarie J. Saxion (Kenneth) of Spring Mills; one son, Douglas L. Stevens of Greer SC and one sister Mona Perrine of Frenchville.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brent, Erica and Kyler Saxion and Bradley and Brittany Litzenberger along with one great grandson, James Lee Saxion.  

Rod was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Spring Mills.  He was an avid Penn State Football fan and assisted with the building of his home.  Rod loved to be outdoors.  One of his favorite activities was walking for miles on the beach, but he especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 am at Grace Baptist Church 3596 Penns Valley Road with Pastor Kenneth Codner officiating.  Rod will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery.  Contributions in his memory may be given to Grace Baptist Church at the above address.
