Our beloved Mom and Mommal, Sara R. Rearick, 75, of Spring Mills, formerly of Millheim, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Salem Hill Haven.  Born March 8, 1941 in Bellefonte, Sara is a daughter of the late Jay and Anna “Neill” Runkle.  She was a member of the first graduating class of 1959 at Penns Valley Area High School.  On September 8, 1963, she married Allen D. Rearick who preceded her in death on July 24, 2016.

Sara is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Clouser (Tim) of Madisonburg and S. Lynne Carbonara (Jason) of Millheim; one son, Allen D. “Dave” Rearick (Tonia) of Millheim; one brother, Thomas Runkle (Lois) of Spring Mills and nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kandice and Jacob Rearick, Stephanie, Justin, Brian and Kevin Clouser and Michelle (Jon) and J.J. Carbonara.  Also surviving is one brother in law, Jay Houser (Gladys); one sister in law, Faye Koenigsberg (Doug); six nieces, Teresa Hockenberry (Ron), Mary Ellen Storm (Craig), Sandra Haagen (Steve), Karen Auman (Benji), Barbara Kerstetter (Ed), and Beth Schmidt (Jonathan) and four nephews, Todd Runkle (Julie), James Houser (Teresa), Matt Koenigsberg (Jessie), and Danny Koenigsberg (Filomena).  In addition to her husband, Sara was preceded in death by a sister in law, Mary Houser.

Sara was a member of the Locust Grove Fellowship Bible Church.  She was employed for a short time as a lab technician at the Penn State University Veterinarian Animal Research Lab.  Sara loved to watch Penn State and Steeler football.  She was an Amish taxi driver and made many lifelong friends among our Amish neighbors.  She worked alongside Allen on the family farm where she encouraged her children and grandchildren in their cattle showing endeavors.  She loved to attend the Grange Fair when it came around at the end of summer.

Her greatest love though, was her family. Her shining example of motherhood has inspired her children to instill the values Sara held into their own children and hopefully their grandchildren.  She was the epitome of a loving and giving mother and grandmother and would do anything for you if she could.  Even in her illness she did not complain and took every day gracefully.  Her passing will leave a huge void in the lives of her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her the most and will never forget her.  Until we meet again, fly high Mommal, fly high.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, to be followed by the funeral service at 8pm with her niece, Pastor Teresa Hockenberry and Pastor Michael Covalt officiating.  Sara will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery during a private graveside service.  Contributions in her memory may be given to Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, Po Box 437, Millheim, Pa 16854 or to Salem Hill Haven, 424 Heckman Cemetery Road, Spring Mills, Pa 16875.
