Edward B. Hanson

Edward B. Hanson, of Indian Head, MD, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at UM Charles Regional Medical Center.  He was 76.  Born June 9, 1947, in Robinson, IL, Edward was a son of the late Lyman E. and Alma F. “Bickers” Hanson.  On October 26, 1968, Edward married Candace Bierly who survives.

In addition to his wife Candace, Edward is survived by one son, Bruce Hanson: one daughter, Jaime Barnes: one son-in-law, Charles Barnes: one brother, Arthur Hanson: one sister-in-law, Margaret Hanson, and one grandson, Kyle Barnes, all of MD. 

After graduation from high school, Edward attended the University of Maryland to further his schooling.  Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a U.S. Army Reservist and served our country during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was employed as a Police Officer at the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington DC with 31 years of service.  Edward enjoyed watching football, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Family and friends will be received at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 11:00 am until noon.  The committal will follow at the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery in Rebersburg.
