Lawrence D. “Larry” Rachau, 74, of Madisonburg, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  Born in Bellefonte on February 3, 1943, Larry was a son of the late Paul K. and Mary M. “Braucht” Rachau.  He was a graduate of Penns Valley Area High School.  Larry was employed as a Master Diesel Mechanic/electrician with Graymont who bought the Warner Company, retiring with 39 years of service. 

Larry served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves where he received his mechanic and electrician training in Quartermaster School.  He could fix anything and was always willing to help anyone when needed.  He built and operated his own portable sawmill.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and collecting tractors.  Larry was a member of the Nittany Farm Museum and a lifetime member of the NRA.   

Larry is survived by one sister, M. Jane Slack of Lamar; one brother, Robert W. Rachau (Joyce) of Spring Mills; four nephews, Louis Slack, Michael Slack, Douglas Rachau, Ronald Rachau, and two nieces, Linda Pietzsch and Lucinda Olsen.

In accordance with Larry’s wishes, all services will be private. Larry will be laid to rest in the Yearick Cemetery in Spring Mills.  Contributions in his memory may be given to Valley Mennonite Chapel, c/o Andrew Freed, 250 Smullton Road, Rebersburg, PA  16872 or to the Yearick Cemetery Association, c/o Kermit Long, 120 Sawmill Lane, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
