Surrounded by his family, Douglas E. Hicks, 73, of Livonia, passed from this life at his home on Monday, July 1, 2019. Born January 3, 1946 in Bellefonte, Doug was a son of the late Myron F. and Eva J. (Brooks) Hicks. On July 17, 1965, Doug married Sally I. Baney who survives at their home.
In addition to his wife Sally, Doug is survived by one daughter, Tammy Broker of Lewisburg; one son, James Hicks (Tracy) of Livonia; and two brothers, Stephen Hicks (Connie) of Howard and Timothy Hicks of Yarnell. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Eddy Broker, Jess Broker, Bryan Hicks, Alyssa Hicks, Courtney Hicks and Jimmy Hicks: one great granddaughter, Abby Broker and Doug’s beloved canine companion, Pookie. Doug was preceded in death by one son, Douglas W. Hicks; one brother, William Hicks, and one great grandson, Grayson Williams.
Doug was employed as a Darkroom and Silkscreen Technician at the former C-Cor Electronics in State College, with 33 years of service before the plant closed. He attended the former God’s Missionary Church at Red Roost. Doug was an avid woodworker and loved working in his woodshop, where he made many pieces of furniture. He also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, hunting, looking for mushrooms and watching hummingbirds. But, most of all Doug loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
In accordance with Doug’s wishes, all services are private. Doug will be laid to rest in the Livonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doug’s memory may be given to Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, Po Box 437, Millheim, PA, 16854.
