Elmer Grieb Obituary

Elmer G. “Fudd” Grieb, of Bellefonte, passed from this life on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.  He was 81.  Born August 24, 1936 in Tylersville, Elmer was a son of the late Richard and Myra (Clover) Grieb.  He was a 1955 graduate of Sugar Valley High School.  He was married to the former Mary Quiggle who preceded him in death in 1985.  He then married Nancy Boob in 1988 and she survives at their home.  Elmer was part owner of the former Country Kitchen and Elmer’s Arco in Loganton.  He was then employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Glenn O. Hawbaker, retiring in 1998.

Also surviving is one daughter, Tamie J. Weaver (Rod) of Loganton; 2 step sons, Dennis H. Carper of Lewistown and Robert A. Carper (Sue) of West Decatur; one step daughter, Judy A. Davidson (Mike) of Bellefonte, and siblings, Arthur Grieb (Faye) and Peggy Karstetter (Kenneth).  Also surviving are grandchildren, Shawn Weaver (Tonya), Alicia Swanger (Marc); Mary and Steven Grieb; step grandchildren, Nicole, Crystal and Rayleen; great grandchildren, Dakota, Mason, Brynn, Camdyn, Brody, Reagan, Teagyn and Aspyn, and step great grandchildren, Josh and Keegan.  Elmer was preceded in death by one son, Kent E. Grieb and one step son, Roger Carper.

Elmer was a member of the Tylersville Lutheran Church, the Jersey Shore Elks and Gray Squirrel Campground, where he took care of maintenance.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and enjoyed throwing darts and horseshoes, along with hunting, and he especially enjoyed playing baseball for Sugar Valley and Loganton.  He even tried out for the Baltimore Orioles.  Elmer will be remembered for his big heart, and the big smile he always had on his face.  

In accordance with family wishes, there will be no public services.  Elmer will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Loganton.
