Frederick L. Tibbens, 87, of Millheim, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  Born October 4, 1929 in Pleasant Gap, Frederick was a son of the late William B. and Dorothy “Sweeney” Tibbens.  He was married to Luella M. Long on July 15, 1954, who preceded him in death in 2004. 

Frederick is survived by two daughters, Diane K. Starr (Philip) of Millheim and Vickie L. Zerby of Bellefonte; two sisters, Sally StClair (Jerry) of Bellefonte, Dorothy Ghaner of State College and one brother, Carl Tibbens (Beverly) of MI.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great grandchild, along with numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, Frederick was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Bill and Owen Tibbens. 

Frederick served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was self-employed as a painter/wallpaper hanger.  He was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Gap American Legion Post 867 and the Bellefonte VFW Post 1600.  In his younger years, Frederick enjoyed hunting with his brothers at camp and tinkering around on his Ford pickup truck. 

In accordance with his wishes, Frederick will be laid to rest in Sprucetown Cemetery during a private ceremony.  Contributions in memory of Frederick may be given to The Hope Fund of Penns Valley, POB 427,  Centre Hall, PA 16828.
