Gloria Louise (Smith) Duck

After a long, courageous battle with Huntington’s disease, Gloria Louise Duck, of Millheim, passed from this life on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Rolling Hills Manor.  She was 66.  Born June 22, 1951 in Philipsburg, Gloria was a daughter of the late Richard and Ruth “Roub” Smith.  She was a graduate of Tyrone High School.  On March 30, 1968, Gloria married Jerald “Sam” Duck who survives at their home in Millheim. 

In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by two sons, Mark A. Duck of Aaronsburg and Michael A. Duck (Kathy) of Lancaster; one brother, Larry Smith (Frieda) of Mechanicsburg and one sister, Carol Waite of Alexandria.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jenny Duck, Michelle Bryant and Matthew Duck, along with five great grandchildren.  Gloria was preceded in death by one daughter Heather Duck.

In her earlier years, Gloria was employed as a caregiver. She loved taking care of people.  She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband and spending quality time with her family.  Her favorite destination was the beach.  She had an extensive lighthouse collection.  Throughout her illness, Gloria never gave up and was determined to overcome the many obstacles that she faced.  She will be greatly missed.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 26th from noon to 2pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the memorial service at 2pm with Pastor Chris Korn officiating.  Gloria will be laid to rest in Zion Union Cemetery.  Contributions in memory of Gloria may be given to Rolling Hills Manor, 17350 Old Turnpike Road, Millmont, Pa 17845.
