Iva M. (Orndorf) Hosterman

Iva M. Hosterman, formerly of Millheim, passed from this life on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Valley View Haven in Belleville.  She was 99.  Born August 22, 1917 in Woodward, Iva was a daughter of the late Stewart H. and Nora “Motz” Orndorf.  She was preceded in death by her husband G. Lester Hosterman, whom she married on September 13, 1941.  Iva was the last of her family having been preceded in death by her siblings, Rachel M. Orndorf, Olive Wert, Orpha McCool, twin infant brothers and Nevin, Earl, Orren, Kenneth, Arlington and Mervin Orndorf. 

Iva is survived by one son, Edwin W. Hosterman (Eileen) of Mertztown; one grandson, Andrew Hosterman (Christine) of Fleetwood and three granddaughters, Emily (Clint)of Roswell, GA and Amy and Mary Hosterman also of Mertztown.

Iva was a 1935 graduate of East Penns Valley High School.  She was employed as a clerk at the downtown Millheim Hosterman & Stover Hardware Store where her husband was a partner and manager.  She was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim, where in her younger years she was a former Sunday school teacher and was actively involved in the women’s club, quilting group and choir.  Along with quilting, Iva enjoyed hand needlework.  She was an avid gardener and a wonderful baker and cook. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Monday, April 3rd from 10-11 am, followed immediately by the funeral service with Pastor Frank Harpster officiating.  Iva will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim at a later date.  Contributions in Iva’s memory may be given to St Johns Lutheran Church, Po Box 439, Millheim, PA 16854 or to 365 Hospice, 100 Oakwood Ave., State College, PA 16803.
