Jean A. (Carson) Stitzer

Jean A. Stitzer, 88, of Spring Mills, passed from this life on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home.  Born August 10, 1929 in Belleville, Jean was a daughter of the late Roy M. and Estella “Reigel” Carson.  She was a graduate of Belleville Area High School.  On October 20, 1953 she married Dean Stitzer who preceded her in death in November 2003.

Jean was a homemaker all her life and helped Dean on the family farm.  Jean attended the Grace United Church of Christ in Spring Mills.  She raised a garden and canned the fruits of her labors to help feed her family.  She enjoyed sewing and loved to participate in Bible Study, but most of all Jean loved to spend time with her family.

Jean is survived by one daughter, Darlene Trach (Michael) of Independence, MO; two sons, James D. Stitzer and Bradley L. Stitzer (Deb) both of Spring Mills, and one brother, Albert Carson (Pat) of Belleville.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Jesse Trach, Phillip Trach, Eric Stitzer, Evan Stitzer, Bridgit Stitzer, Brandi Stitzer, Chad Stitzer and Krista Hanscom, along with 12 great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by one daughter, Audrey Hanscom.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim on Wednesday, July 18th from 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19th at 10:00 am.  Jean will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Spring Mills.  Contributions in memory of Jean may be given to Grace UCC,  PO Box 313, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
