Kathryn I. (Bierly) Meyer

Kathryn I. “Katty” Meyer, 90, formerly of Rebersburg, passed from this life on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.  Born March 18, 1927 in Rebersburg, Katty was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Madeline (Cable) Bierly.  She was a graduate of the former Miles Township High School in Rebersburg.   She was married to Philip Meyer who preceded her in death on December 21, 2001.  Katty was employed as a secretary in the Continuing Education Department at Penn State University, retiring in 1990 with 20+ years of service. 

Katty is survived by one son, Philip D. Meyer (Judy) of Rebersburg; three grandsons, Chris Meyer (Zoe), Shawn Meyer and Ryan Meyer, and five great grandchildren, Olivia, Abigail, Victoria, Leah and John Meyer.  Also surviving are siblings, Robert Bierly (Nancy), Susan Benner, Donna Bowersox (Harold) Sandra McGovern (Pat), Sam Bierly (Nancy), Nancy Foust (Charles) and Jane Rudy (Harold).  In addition to her husband, Katty was preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Burd, Hazel Zerby, infant sister Annabelle and Clarence, Donald and Harold “Choz” Bierly. 

Katty was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Rebersburg where she was very active in the ladies auxiliary of the church, and was a former church board member.  She was also a member of the East Penns Valley Women’s Club.  Katty loved shopping, doing ceramics when she was younger, traveling to the beach and especially attending the high school sporting events of her grandchildren. 

Katty will be laid to rest during a public graveside service at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in Fairview Cemetery.  Contributions in her memory may be given to Penns Valley EMS, Po Box 650, Millheim, PA 16854.
