Rachel May Confer, 83, of Spring Mills, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born November 4, 1933 in Wallaceton, Rachel was a daughter of the late William and Margaret “Fry” Klinger. She was married to Calvin E. Confer, Jr., who preceded her in death April 23, 2004.
Rachel is survived by one son, Eugene A. Confer (Beverly) of Spring Mills; one grandson, Jason Confer (Crystal) of Aaronsburg; two grandchildren, Luke Calvin Confer and Caleb Eugene Confer; one sister, Lucille Brown and one brother, Richard Klinger. In addition to her husband Rachel was preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth, Dee, Charles “Tub”, and Bob Klinger, and one sister, Betty Clinger.
Rachel attended the Valley Mennonite Chapel where she was active in Church activities. Rachel was a very giving and caring person. When someone was in need, she was prepared to help out and gave of herself as much as she was able. She enjoyed vegetable gardening; canning the harvest, crocheting, and shopping. Rachel is admired by her family for her perseverance and how she overcame many obstacles in her life. Most of all, Rachel loved to spend time with her family.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 9-10 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 10 am with Pastor Marvin Freed officiating. Rachel will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.
