Surrounded by his family, Richard P. “Dick” King, 79 of Spring Mills, passed from this life on Sunday, December 3, 2017.  Born March 5, 1938 in Spring Mills, Dick was a son of the late Paul A. and Stella B. “Snyder” King.  On February 26, 1963, Dick married Diana Jean Stover, who preceded him in death on January 24, 2016. 

Dick was a talented carpenter, working in construction for Ralph Way Construction, then later becoming a partner in K&B Construction.  Dick retired in 2005 after devoting his entire working life to carpentry.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and camping.  He was an avid racing fan.  On the local level, Dick was part owner of a dirt track racing car.  He also loved to listen to country music and going out to eat, especially to Chilly Willy’s for ice cream. 

Dick is survived by one daughter, Melissa Butts (Mark) and one son, Jeffrey King (Monica) both of Spring Mills; four grandchildren, Jamie Smith (Tony), Jesse King (Carolyn), Sherri Shouey (William) and Amanda McCool (William), and three great grandchildren, Lucas Shawley, Conor McCool and Wyatt King.  Also surviving is one sister Deborah King Baird Waite and Dick’s faithful and beloved canine companions, Diesel and Anna.  In addition to his wife, Dick was preceded in death by brothers, Harry, Larry and Thomas King, and sisters, Ruth Spangler, Barbara Decker and Phyllis Duck. 

In accordance with Dick’s wishes there will be no public services.  Dick will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery during a private service for both he and Diana.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dick’s memory may be given to Centre County Paws, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA  16801.
