William F. (Jr.) McClellan

With his loving family by his side, William F. McClellan, Jr. of Centre Hall, PA passed away at his Colyer Lake home on Monday, November 11, 2019.  He was 86.  Born November 12, 1932 in State College, PA, William was the son of the late W. Franklin and Algie (Emery) McClellan.  "Bill," as he was known, attended Penn State University, then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957.  Upon returning home, on June 22, 1957 he married Dorine L. Griffith who survives at their home.  Also surviving is one daughter, Denise D. McClellan, and his two sisters, Millie Guss and Jane Armes. 

Bill managed the former family business, McClellan Chevrolet in State College, now Stocker Chevrolet.  A volunteer fireman for the Alpha Fire Company, he was also a member of the Elks Club, aka Mountain View Country Club, the State College VFW, and the American Legion.  Bill loved baseball, golfing, hunting, fishing, and bowling…..even winning bowling tournaments in years past.  Gardening was also a hobby he enjoyed for years, and he provided freshly grown vegetables for many come summertime.  Bill was well-known and liked by his friends and neighbors in the Colyer area and he will be dearly missed.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service for Bill at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Zion Hill Cemetery in Colyer, rural Centre Hall, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of William F. McClellan, Jr. may be given to the State College American Legion Post #245, 1950 Pine Hall Road, State College, PA 16801.
