William Lee “Sax” Saxon, 97, of Millheim, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.  Sax was born in Swengel, on March 16, 1920, to the late Irma Knauss.  Sax proudly served his country from 1944-1946 as a Water tender 2nd class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  On November 25, 1950 he married Genevieve Mae Hosterman who preceded him in death on February 10, 1996.

Sax was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at the former Laurelton State Village, retiring in 1985 with 28 years of service.  He was a member of the A.A.S.R. Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of Williamsport, Jaffa Shriners, Milton Moose Lodge # 171, Millheim Fire Company and the American Legion Keystone Post # 444.  Sax loved to help people and he could fix about anything. He enjoyed tinkering on his Model A engine, lawn mowers and clocks.  He and Gen built their own home.  He assisted with the bowling alley maintenance at the Millheim Lanes and participated in bowling leagues there too.  Many times during the warm summer afternoon and evening, you would pass Sax out driving on the backroads, enjoying the beauty of Penns Valley.

Sax is survived by special family members, Wanda Gerhab (Glenn) of Pleasant Gap, Eric C. Bailey of Astoria, NY, Juanita Evans (Victor) of Lewisburg and Gretchen Norton (Jeff) of Lewisburg and their children, Bailey and Addison.  Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from noon – 2pm on Sunday, December 17th at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral at 2pm with Pastor Chris Korn officiating.  Sax will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  Military honors will be provided by the Millheim Legion.  Contributions in Sax’s memory may be given to the Millheim Fire Company, PO Box 626, Millheim, PA 16854 or to Shriners Hospital for Children.
