Aleta Kay Shade

Aleta “Kay” Shade, of Spring Mills, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  She was 76.  Born September 1, 1947, in Bellefonte, Kay was a daughter of the late Robert G. and Marian “McClellan” Glasgow.   She was married to Michael T. Shade who preceded her in death in 2003.

Kay was employed at the former Laurelton Center in Laurelton and retired from there as a resident aide.  She also worked at the Frosty Hook bar and restaurant in Spring Mills.  She was an animal lover and enjoyed reading, with murder mysteries being her favorite.

Kay is survived by three daughters, Valerie Myers, Denise Stroup (Keith) and Michelle Stitzer (Todd); two sons, Scott Myers (Debra) and Michael Laird (Keri).  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Kay was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Myers and one sister, Glenda Glasgow. 

Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 6-8 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Kay may be given to https://www.komen.org or to Pets Come First 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
