Amos Rimmey Obituary

Amos Edgar Rimmey of rural Centre Hall, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 29, 2022.  He was 85.  Born April 3, 1937 in Centre Hall, Edgar was a son of the late Amos Edgar Rimmey, Sr. and Mary Catherine “Neff” Rimmey.  He was a 1955 graduate of the Penns Valley Joint High School.  On September 27, 1969 he married Elizabeth Jane Carper, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2021.

Edgar served his country in the 112th A.C.+W.FLT unit of the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis.  He was a lifelong dairy and crop farmer on Rimmey road in Centre Hall.  In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, farming and working on the farm machinery up until two strokes left him unable.  Then he enjoyed watching TV, reading his Lancaster Farming paper and other farming magazines.  These last couple of years he enjoyed getting out of the house when able, whether to ride along with his daughter to the grocery store or to the fields to watch his son continue farming.  His favorite outing was going for soft ice cream.

Edgar is survived by one son, Scott Allen Rimmey; one daughter Kimberly A. Rimmey-Wolfe (Scott) and one sister, Ruth Lansberry all of Centre Hall.  In addition to his wife, Edgar was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Rimmey, George “Mike” Rimmey, James N. Rimmey, Donald Rimmey, Mariam Walker, Mary Bickhart and Edna Rockey.

Edgar will be laid to rest with military honors during a graveside service on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim with Pastor Carol Clark Baney officiating.  Contributions in memory of Edgar may be given to the UPMC Home Nursing Agency, PO Box 352, Altoona Pa 16603.
