Anna G. Hazel

Anna G. Hazel, formerly of Madisonburg, who recently resided at Centre Care in Bellefonte, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.  She was 91.  Born February 10, 1931, in Spring Mills, Anna was a daughter of the late John and Carrie (Musser) Eungard. 

Anna was a 1949 graduate of the former Miles Township High School where she was valedictorian of her class.  On December 28, 1954, Anna married William J. Hazel who preceded her in death on June 26, 2009.  She and William worked side by side on the family farm for 50 years.  Anna was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Madisonburg where she enjoyed cleaning and taking care of the church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening, sewing and crocheting, often making toys for the grandchildren. 

Anna is survived by three children, Lora J. Bierce (Arthur) of Carlisle, Martin J. Hazel (Rosemary) of Rogersville, AL and John E. Hazel (Victoria) of Madisonburg; five grandchildren, Carrie Hazel, Jessica Herrmann (Sean), Christopher Hazel (Elly Engle), Jesse Hazel (Jessica) and Rachel Bierce (Richard Lutz).  Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Violette Engle-Hazel and Richard Lutz.  In addition to her husband, Anna was preceded in death by one son, William J. Hazel, Jr and one sister, Estie Wells.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Julia Holm officiating.  Anna will be laid to rest in the Christ United Church of Christ Cemetery in Madisonburg.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Anna may be given to Centre Care, attn Residents Fund, 250 Persia Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823 or to Christ United Church of Christ, c/o Lois Miller, PO Box 124, Madisonburg PA 16852.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.stevenrnefffuneralhome.com
