Boyd A. Musser, Jr., of Spring Mills, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He was 75. Born March 4, 1948, in Spring Mills, Boyd was a son of the late Boyd A. Musser, Sr. and Anna (Merryman) Musser. He was a 1966 graduate of Penns Valley High School. On July 8, 1967, Boyd married the love of his life, Gail L. Leslie, who survives at their home.
In addition to his wife, Boyd is survived by one son, Mitchell G. Musser and siblings, Norma Mulvey, Lois Runkle and Robert Musser. Also surviving are grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Breon, son in law, Kevin Breon and numerous nieces and nephews. Boyd was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Breon and siblings, Randall “Peachey” Musser, Alice Sweeley, Glenn Musser, Lucille Arking, Feryle Winter and Dale Musser.
Boyd began his employment at Stocker Chevrolet in the parts department before going to MacIntyre Chevrolet in Lock Haven where he was employed as the Parts Manager from 1977-2018. After his retirement, he helped plow snow for Penn Township. Boyd was the owner and head mechanic of Clate Husted Racing. From 1968-2002, he ran three different dirt track and asphalt cars, #1, #23 and #68. He was a NASCAR fan too, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver. Boyd enjoyed PSU and Philadelphia Eagle football, working on cars (he was a lover of General Motors vehicles, Chevy’s being his favorite) or anything mechanical, spending time at the R&R Gun Club hunting camp in Poe Valley, cutting wood and Ranger rides with his best canine friend, Rufus. He volunteered a lot of time helping restore the Paradise Cemetery in rural Spring Mills. Above all else, Boyd enjoyed time spent with his family.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 18, 2023, from 2-6 pm at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Teresa Hockenberry officiating. Boyd will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery.
