Surrounded by his loving family, Charles William “Bill” Homan, Sr. of Spring Mills, passed away December 13, 2025. He was 79. Born December 1, 1946, in Burnham, Bill was a son of the late Henrietta (Yetter) Homan Bressler and John Homan, Sr. and a stepson of the late Maylon Bressler.
Bill was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley High School. On January 12, 1964, he married Connie Stitzer who survives. In addition to Connie, Bill is survived by two daughters, Lisa Shawver and Danielle DuVall (Dennis); two sons, Charles W. Homan, Jr. (Tammy) and Jamie Homan (Angela); fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Brenda Hockenberry and Beverly Miller and one brother, Brian Bressler. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Homan, his sister Linda Neideigh (Devon) and two brothers, John Homan, Jr. (Lannie) and Larry Bressler.
Bill always had a passion for farming. He was a member of the FFA, achieving the degree of Keystone Farmer. He was a recipient of the 2009 Conservation Farmer Award. Beside owning and operating his own beef farm, Bill was a supervisor at the former Gettig Pharmaceutical Instrument Company with over thirty years of service.
Bill loved being outdoors. In addition to farming, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, hiking, horseback riding and gardening. He was a man of faith. His standard of life was God first, family second and to treat all with kindness and respect. Bill attended Faith Alive Fellowship Church where he was involved with children’s ministry. He had a great sense of humor. He loved to sing and when he got that mischievous twinkle in his icy blue eyes you knew the fun was about to begin. Bill was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
