Darlene R. (Crater) Shutt

Darlene "Crater" Shutt, 75, of Spring Mills, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on June 9, 2022. Born August 3, 1946 in Bellefonte. Darlene was a daughter of the late Clarence F. and Carrie R. (Confer) Crater. She was a 1965 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School.  On July 23, 2004 she married Richard A. Shutt who survives at their home in Spring Mills.

Also surviving are two daughters, Tracey Baird(Devin) of Centre Hall and Kathy Jo Carra of Bellefonte; one sister, Ginger E. Horner (Gary) of Spring Mills and two brothers, Freeman S. Crater(Wendy) of Spring Mills and Jan A. Crater (Norma) of Centre Hall.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Erin Rodenberger and Elizabeth Shutt Harter (Zach) both of Centre Hall and very special family friend Austin Gurner of Port Matilda.

Darlene drove bus for many years and during her final days was employed as a school bus driver for D&D Transportation of Howard.  She really enjoyed the memories she made with all the children on her bussing adventures. She was very proud of her accomplishment of being a bus driver instructor.

She enjoyed going on cruises, to the casinos and visiting with family and friends. Her passions included horseback riding and she spent several years raising horses with Rick on their farm.

In accordance with Darlene’s wishes there will be no public services.
