David "Dave" Charles Edwards

David Charles (Dave) Edwards, formerly of Aaronsburg, passed away on September 11, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  He was 90.  Dave was born February 27, 1933, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, the son of Harry and Gladys Edwards.  He graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1951, and from Penn State University in 1955 with a degree in Physical Education with a minor in science. 

In 1955, he married Dolores Pluckard and began his career as a science teacher at Penns Valley High School.  He moved to Aaronsburg, Pennsylvania where he and his family lived for nearly 68 years. 

Dave was a basketball coach at Penns Valley for many years after a successful basketball career at Penn State University and as a member of the Penn State 1954 final four basketball team.

He is survived by his wife Dolores and daughters Sheree Hosterman (Rich) of Centre Hall, Pennsylvania and Dianne McManigal (Keith) of Seattle, Washington.  Their son David resides in Middlebury, Vermont. 

Grandchildren Tyler McManigal (Ashley) of Seattle, Washington and Brooke Hanson (Taylor) of Minneapolis, Minnesota were his heart and soul.

In accordance with Dave’s wishes, he will be laid to rest in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Aaronsburg during a private service.
