Donald Ray Boob, formerly of Millheim, passed from this life on May 27, 2023, at Wynwood House in Centre Hall. He was 96. Born February 13, 1927, in Coburn, Donald was a son of the late Warren and Ada (Corman) Boob.
He was a 1944 graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School. It was there that he met his wife Virginia. They started going steady when they were juniors. Donald and Virginia were married on January 3, 1946, and spent 69 years together. Virginia preceded him in death March 8, 2015.
Donald retired from West Penn Power with 39 ½ years of service. He started as a laborer and retired as an operating foreman. Donald served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, attaining the rank of SM3C. He was a legionnaire of the American Legion Keystone Post #444 in Millheim. He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ and the last charter member of the Black Panther Riding Club. Donald enjoyed horses, boating, fishing, hunting and camping.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Donna Ditlow (Jim) of Hummelstown; two sons, Dana Boob (Joy) of Millheim and Douglas Boob (Connie) of Spring Mills, and one sister, Marie Bathgate of Lemont. Also surviving are six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Donald was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Brandt and Arlene Rote; and two brothers, Charles and Randall Boob.
Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor David Hersh officiating. Donald will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.
