Donald C. Grenoble, of Spring Mills, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was 89. Born April 18, 1936, in Spring Mills, Don was a son of the late Ernest and Jennie (Ripka) Grenoble. He was a 1953 graduate of Penns Valley High School. On July 4, 1976, he married the love of his life, Louise E. McCallister who preceded him in death on April 17, 2022.
Don proudly served our country as a SSGT in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his return home he was employed by Penn State University as a stockroom clerk in the Office of Physical Plant and retired from there. He was a member of the Spring Mills Faith United Methodist Church, the Nittany Antique Machinery Association, the Smith Pletcher American Legion Post #779, the Jaffa Shriners and the Potters Mills VFW. Don was also the past president of the Mountain Cemetery Association.
Don first joined the Gregg Township Fire Company in September of 1949. There he ran with the ambulance for twenty-five years and was an EMA for over 47 years. He was not only a lifetime member, but he also served as Chief, Captain and in his final active years, the financial secretary and treasurer for the fireman’s relief. He also served with the fire police and drove the transport wagons at Grange Fair transporting people from the parking lots into the fair. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.
Don is survived by two step daughters, Denise Meyers and Victoria Alexander; one stepson, Dennis Devlin (Sharon) and one stepson in law, Van Holsinger (Lisa); twelve grandchildren, Brooks Meyers (Tricia), Melanie Meyers, Noah Meyers (Patricia), Kenney Toner (Susan), Jennifer Chandler (Nathan), Haven Alexander, Shelly Beamesderfer (Chris), Dennis Neideigh, Alexa Harrison (Billy), Abby Holsinger (Brandon), Shannon Wright (Kyle) and Amber Dahl (Eric). Also surviving are fifteen great grandchildren, Hunter, Ian, Aidan, Sean, Kourtney, AJ, Ruby, Rocco, Catherine, Francis, Allie Marie, Olivia, Isaiah, Eden Grace, Lily and two great great grandchildren, Archer, and Jayden.
In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Lois Corl; stepdaughter, Donna Neideigh; stepsons in law, George Meyers and Terry Alexander and a great grandson, Theodore Meyers.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Smith Pletcher American Legion Post #779 in Centre Hall. The Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Theresa Heiser officiating. Don and Louise will be laid to rest together at the Mountain Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be given to the Potters Mills VFW or the Penns Valley EMS.
