Donald Foster Wolfe, of Aaronsburg, passed away at his home on August 30, 2024. He was 92. Born May 4, 1932, in Spring Mills, Don was a son of the late William Foster and Aurelia Charlotte “Schnaidt” Wolfe. He was a 1950 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. On June 26, 1954, he married Nancy Marie Shawver, who survives. They celebrated a milestone of 70 years of marriage this past June.
Don proudly served our country from 1950-1954 in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed aboard the USS Cabot aircraft carrier. He was employed at Piper Aircraft and after they closed, he went to work for the Penns Valley School District as a custodian where his favorite job was interacting with the children. Don was a member of the Millheim Fire Company and American Legion Keystone Post #444 in Millheim. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed gardening. Really, he enjoyed all outdoor activities.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his children, Betty Roush (Randy), Diana Miller (John), Stanley Foster Wolfe (Katherine Ann) and Scott A. Wolfe (Kimberly). Also surviving are five grandchildren, Timothy Foster Wolfe, Daren Foster Roush, Sarah Swartz (Joseph), Greyson Wolfe and Cheyanne Wolfe, along with one great grandson, Nicholas Foster Wolfe (Destiny) and many nieces and nephews. Don was the last of his family, having been preceded in death by his three brothers and four sisters, along with one granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Wolfe.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home. The Celebration of Don’s Life will follow with Pastor Theresa Heiser officiating. Don will be laid to rest with full military honors in Fairview Cemetery, Millheim, PA.
