Doris A. Hartman, formerly of Aaronsburg, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Wynwood House in Centre Hall. She was 88. Born April 2, 1935, in Spring Mills, Doris was a daughter of the late Neven and Bessie (Hosterman) Rishel. She was married to Charles R. Hartman who preceded her in death in May of 1973.
Doris was a 1953 graduate of East Penns Valley High School. She was employed as a patient aide at the former Laurelton State Hospital, retiring from there with thirty years of service. Doris enjoyed traveling on bus trips after retirement, crafting, collecting salt and pepper shakers and listening to Charlie Pride music. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Coburn. Most of all, Doris enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Doris is survived by one son, Neven C. Hartman of Aaronsburg, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and one special great nephew, Alan DeBrasky. In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Hartman and two sisters, Pauline Ream and Jean Frankenberger.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Theresa Heiser officiating. Doris will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Doris may be given to the Hope Fund of Penns Valley, POB 427, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
