Edward Earl Brungart, passed peacefully from this life on April 18, 2025, at his home with his wife and daughter beside him. He was born July 2, 1947, in Bellefonte and is the eldest son of Earl J. and Martha E. “Lingle” Brungart. On December 2, 1967, he married Virginia Marie “Feltenberger” Brungart, and they shared a good life together for almost 58 years. On November 7, 1968, the love of their life was born, daughter Lori Ann “Brungart” Zerbe.
Ed graduated from Penns Valley Area High School in 1965 and then graduated from the former Vale Tech Institute in Blairsville as an auto body repairman in 1966. He ran the body shop at Brungart’s garage until 1980. He worked for a home construction & remodeling company until late 1983 when he returned to the family garage as a mechanic after the death of his father. He and brother, Dennis, ran Brungart’s Garage until they retired in 2010.
Along with friends, Ed rebuilt and restored classic cars. His hobby cars included a 1978 & 1979 Corvette, a 1967 Camaro, a 1923 T-bucket, a 1941 Chevy coupe, and a 1930 Model A. He was a member of the USA-1 Corvette Club, the former St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and a past fire chief for Miles Twp. Ed served in the US Army Reserve from 1967-1972. He was an avid Steelers fan. Ed was a good, loving man who would help anyone, any time. He loved going to car shows, hunting and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was always smiling and made you smile when you came in contact with him.
Ed is survived by wife Ginny: daughter, Lori (John): grandchildren, Zachary (Miquela) and Alexandra: great grandchildren, Chance, Sterling, Monroe and Theodore: siblings, Mona Weaver (Ken), Dennis, Alice Steel (John), Dale (Carla) and Gloria Wian (Michelle): nieces and nephews, as well as other family and great friends.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 am until noon at God's Missionary Church, 145 N. Alley, Rebersburg, PA 16872. The Celebration of Life service will follow at noon with Pastor John Zechman officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ed may be given to Centre County PAWS, Miles Twp. Fire Company, or Penns Valley EMS.
