Erma Mae "Sis" Haupt

Erma Mae “Sis” Haupt, of Spring Mills, passed away Sunday, July 14. 2024, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.  She was 90.  Born February 8, 1934, in Bellefonte, Sis was a daughter of the late Lester R. and Ruth D. “Hoover” Crust.  She was a 1952 graduate of Bellefonte High School.  On November 19, 1952, Sis married Kenneth E. Haupt, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2010. 

Sis is survived by one daughter, Jacquie L. Daulby (John) of Belleville; two sons, Kenneth E. Haupt, Jr. (Kitty) of Spring Mills and Thomas E. Haupt, Sr. (Trudi) of Millheim, and two siblings, Evelyn Bird and G. Earl Crust (Sandy) both of Bellefonte.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Ben Haupt (Jennifer), and Nathan Haupt (Sarah) both of Spring Mills, Teresa Thompson (Bob) of Aaronsburg, Thomas E. Haupt, Jr. (Jody) of Coburn, John Daulby, Jr.  (Connor) of Charleston, SC and Jessica Plank (Christopher) of Belleville, Chelsea DeHaas (Josh) of New Oxford and Hanna McCollum (Justin) of Pittsburgh, along with twenty-eight great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.  Sis was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley

Sis was employed by the Penns Valley School District where she served in the custodial department at the former Spring Mills Elementary School.  Sis enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City with her friends where she loved to play the slot machines.  She also enjoyed camping at Grange Fair where you could find her at the bingo stand.  She enjoyed vegetable gardening and would eat the cucumbers and onions before she even left the garden.  She loved cats and would feed all the strays that came to her home.  Sunday suppers were enjoyed by everyone when her family would gather around her table.  Family was very important to Sis, and she was protective of them. They will remember her for her spunkiness and terms of endearment.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Ben Haupt officiating.  Sis will be laid to rest in Meyer Cemetery in Bellefonte.  Contributions in her memory may be given to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy., Centre Hall PA 16828.
