Esther Guisewite Haugh Obituary

Esther M. Guisewite Haugh, of Hughesville, formerly of Jersey Shore, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport.  She was 89.  Born May 18, 1932 in Aaronsburg, Esther was a daughter of the late Paul and Lodie “Motz” Stover.  She was a graduate of East Penns Valley High School where she was valedictorian of her class and active in sports.  After high school, Esther attended Geisinger School of Nursing for three years.  She then went on to Lock Haven University and attained her Bachelor of Science in Education, and a Master's Equivalency from Bloomsburg University.  Esther was employed as a Registered Nurse in the Jersey Shore Area School District with 30 + years of service.

Esther was first married to Richard Guisewite who preceded her in death in 1983.  She was a member of the Phelps Chapel in Avis, and active in her neighborhood of Locust Street, Jersey Shore, as well as in her children’s school and sports activities. Later, Esther married Glenn Haugh, who preceded her in death in 2017. She became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.  During this time Esther enjoyed her Pine Creek property with its numerous flower gardens, the view of the stream, and the frequent sighting of eagles.  She also loved to watch the PGA tour on television and was a member of the red hat society.  Esther’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed seeing her former students throughout their lives.

Esther is survived by two daughters, Ginger Hoover (Bruce) of Muncy and Glori Kaczmarek (Steve) of Orlando, FL; two sons, Greg Guisewite of MD and Geoffrey Guisewite of State College; twelve grandchildren, Gabrielle, Grace, Greta, Genna, Alyssa, Kristen, Kourtney, Bryan, Samuel, Benjamin, Jillian and Natalie.  Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren, Hunter, Easton, Michael, Beau, Riggins, Beckett, Vander, Layna, Kade, Harper, and Alexandra.  She is the last of her family having been preceded in death by siblings, Randall, Russell, Lowell and Fritz Stover.

Esther will be laid to rest during a public graveside service to be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  Family and friends will be greeted from 10-11 am with the funeral service following at 11:00 am.
