Ethel (Scitti) Green

Ethel “Scitti” Green, of Spring Mills passed from this life January 10, 2022 at Wynwood House at Salem Hill Haven.  She was 92.  Born June 6, 1929 in Bellefonte, Ethel was a daughter of the late Emilio and Maria “Moser” Scitti.  She was a 1947 graduate of the former Gregg Township Vocational School in Spring Mills where she was first string forward on the ladies basketball team. 

Ethel was employed at the former Gettig Pharmaceuticals in Spring Mills, retiring in 2004 with 52 years of service.  She was a longtime member of the New Hope Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and was very active with the social activities of the church.  Ethel enjoyed watching Penn State and Steeler football, gardening, dabbling in photography and especially baking.  She looked forward to playing bingo with the other residents at Salem Hill and, enjoyed helping out by getting the mail, newspaper and setting the dinner table. Most of all Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family. 

Ethel is survived by one daughter, Colleen McQuaide (Mark) of New London; one son, Tim Scitti (Debbie) of State College and four grandchildren, Andrew, Caitlin, Alex and Austin.  Ethel is the last of her family having been preceded in death by siblings, Esther Scitti, Vera Scitti, Mary Spicer, Theresa Smith, Delphina Jaworski, Ocean Scitti and Pacific Scitti.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 11:00 am - 12 noon at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon with Pastor Lauretta Dietrich officiating.  Ethel will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery.  Contributions in memory of Ethel may be given to New Hope Lutheran Church, PO Box 96, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
