Frances Confer Obituary

Frances G. Confer, formerly of Aaronsburg, passed away November 7, 2023, at Wynwood House in Boalsburg.  She was 95.  Born January 16, 1928, in Spring Mills, Frances was a daughter of the late William and Mary “Lingle” Guisewhite.  On April 21, 1961, she married Richard W. Confer who preceded her in death on March 17, 2018. 

Frances is survived by two daughters, Mary Kerstetter of Aaronsburg and Jane Irvin of Bellefonte; one son-in-law, Rodney Wolfe; three sisters-in-law, Linda Neil, Marty Lightner and, Shirley Guisewhite. 

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Richard Wolfe (Heather), Rodney C. Wolfe (Nicole), Kevin Kerstetter (Claudia), Brian Kerstetter (Amy), Kelly Jo Rhoades (Richard), Donald Irvin, Jr. (Val) and Stephanie Rossman (John) along with fifteen great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren.   In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded by a daughter, Christy A. Wolfe; twelve siblings, Mae Noll, James Guisewhite, William Guisewhite, Hazel Hulbert, Sarah Hosterman, Saphrona Auman, Betty Stover, Josephine Auman, Bernice Haffley, Anna Fohringer, Rufus Guisewhite and Donald Guisewhite and two sons-in-law, Cloyd Kerstetter and Donald Irvin, Sr.

Frances was a member of the American Legion Keystone Post #444 Ladies Auxiliary, the Nittany Antique Machinery Association and a 50-year member of the Millheim Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she was very active.  She enjoyed bowling, camping, playing cards, attending Grange Fair, traveling on bus tours, butchering and especially spending time with her family. 

The family would like to thank all the special caregivers Frances has had over the last several years, from the ones that came into her home to the staff at Wynwood House in Boalsburg as well as the Grane Hospice staff.  You all took great care of her, and she considered you all family. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 1-3 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Mike Covalt officiating.  Frances will be laid to rest in the Reformed Cemetery in Aaronsburg.  Contributions in memory of Frances may be given to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Millheim Fire Company, POB 656, Millheim, PA 16854 or to Nittany Antique Machinery Association, c/o Jim Markle, 2113 Brushwood Drive, State College PA 16801.
