Frances H. Immel

Frances H. Immel, of State College, passed away April 9, 2023, at Centre Care in Bellefonte.  She was 94.  Born January 8, 1929, in Spring Mills, Fran was a daughter of the late George and Mable (Bowersox) Immel.

Fran was a longtime resident of Strawberry Fields, Inc. where she made many lifelong friends. In 2022, Fran moved to Centre Care Nursing Home.

Fran attended programs with Skills of Central Pa and Sunny Days where she enjoyed activities and socializing with staff and peers. 

Fran loved babies, socializing, crafting and all holidays.  Fran loved parties, especially celebrating her birthday, always wanting a big cake.  She had a love of food that she shared with her staff, housemates and friends.  She was always planning her next meal.  Fran loved animals, particularly cats and dogs. She had a cat (Dinky) long ago that she talked about for many years.  Fran also enjoyed watching movies, mainly Christmas movies and her favorite TV show, The Lawrence Welk Show.

Fran is survived by two nieces, Dina Zug and Vesta Matis.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and the special friends that became her family while she lived at Strawberry Fields. Her legacy will live on in the lives that she touched. 

Family and friends may attend a visitation for Fran on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 10:30 am until 11:00 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The Celebration of Fran’s life will follow at 11:00 with Pastor Renee Ford officiating.  Fran will be laid to rest in Woodward Cemetery in rural Woodward, PA.
