Surrounded by his loving family, George H. “Mick” Miller, III, of Coburn, passed away at his home on August 22, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 78. Born May 23, 1946, in Lemoyne, PA, Mick was a son of the late George H. Miller, Jr. and Marion E. “Kern” Miller. He was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. On February 6, 1966, he married Sandra E. Minnier who survives at home.
Mick proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, retiring with 20 years of service. He was employed as a Service Technician, repairing bank equipment for Diebold Nixdorf and would retire from there too. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Coburn, the Spring Mills Fish and Game and the Union County Sportsman Club at Weikert. Mick enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He and Sandy enjoyed camping with family and friends, with Indian River Campground in Bloomsburg and Ives Run Campground in Tioga being their favorites. Mick also bowled in the Senior Men’s League and enjoyed playing corn hole.
In addition to his wife, Mick is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Mitchell (Terry) of Reynoldsville; one brother, Francis D. Miller (Diane) of Landisburg and one sister, Mary K. Parker of St. Clair. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jonathan Huey (Michelle) of Aaronsburg, Zachary Huey of Coburn, Amanda Covalt (Trever) of Aaronsburg, Victoria Sunealitis (Jon) and Jeni Mitchell (Kyle Traut): five great grandchildren, Anthony, Aiden, Brycen and Oliver Covalt and Cheyanne Sunealitis and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mick was preceded in death by his son, George H. Miller, IV and an infant brother.
In accordance with Mick’s wishes, all services are private. He will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Millheim Legion. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mick may be given to Centre County Veterans Fund, POB 546, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
