Helen E. “Dot” Benner, formerly of Aaronsburg, passed away Sunday, December 4th, 2022, at Wynwood House at Salem Hill Haven in Spring Mills. She was 89. Born February 6, 1933, in Mifflintown, Helen was a daughter of the late William R. Muldoon, Sr. and Lena A. (Kahley) Muldoon. She was a 1951 graduate of the Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown. On September 8, 1956, Helen married the love of her life, Frederick O. Benner who preceded her in death on October 25, 2015.
Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards and coloring with gel pens. She worked alongside Fred on the family dairy farm where they raised their children. Most of all, Helen loved to spend time with her family.
Helen is survived by seven children, Randy (Kelly) of Centre Hall, Vince (Terry) of Aaronsburg, Rhonda Benner of State College, Tracy Ridenour of Aaronsburg, Kevin (LaDawn) of Spring Mills, Roger (Heather) of Bellefonte and Robin Foltz (Tony) of Coburn; two sisters, Shirley Groff of Thompsontown and Pauline Fleisher of Eugene, OR; and, nineteen grandchildren, Kylie (Nathan), Philip (Alicia), Jamie (Craig), Samantha (Mike) Pierce, Travis (Chuck), Tabitha (Justin), Trevor (Kara), Kendall, Jeromy (Maresa), Amanda (Adrian), Hannah (Jevin), Stephanie (Len), Bethanie (Tom) Evan (Karli), Caitlinn (Rich), Shaunnah, Emilye, Jon. Also surviving are twenty nine great grandchildren, Hayden, Gracie, Reagan, Laine, Logan, Kensly, Avery, Michael, Violet, Henry, Margaret, Ryder, Bailey, Lena, Caleb, Mako, Ruby, Nora, Lincoln, Jackie, Micah, Blake, Brynley, Rachel, Colton, Phoebe, Gabriel, Nathan, Grayson, and her “adopted” family, Stan, Karen, Eric, Chad (Manchi), Keaton and Sammie Schulyer. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by siblings, William R. Muldoon, Jr., Brady “Jake” Muldoon, Betty Reese, Anna Brackbill and an infant stillborn sister Thelma.
The family would like to express their thanks to Grane Hospice, fellow residents and the staff of Wynwood House at Salem Hill for the excellent care provided to their Mom, Gram and Great Gram. Everything was appreciated.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 9:30 - 11:30 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:30 am with lay Pastor Gary Gentzel officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in Fairview West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helen may be made payable to Charles Schwab at Nittany Brokerage Services, 2125 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801. On the memo of your check please write “for benefit of Colton Stauffer”. Colton is Helen’s great grandson who was born with Hemifacial Microsomia.
