Jerry W. Summers, formerly of Centre Hall, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. He was 78. Born October 27, 1946, in Bellefonte, Jerry was a son of the late John A. and Lavonne I. (Weaver) Summers. On November 29, 1964, he married Connie B. Long who preceded him in death on March 17, 2025.
Jerry had been employed as a compost operator at University Area Joint Authority, retiring with 32 years of service. After retirement, Jerry couldn’t sit still so he went to work doing maintenance at the Grange Fair Grounds. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, hunting, fishing and tinkering around with anything mechanical. He especially loved the various pets he had over the years. Another enjoyment of Jerry’s was watching old western movies and listening to country music.
Jerry is survived by one daughter, Amanda Weaver (Kent) of Centre Hall; two sons, Wade Summers (Marlene) of Howard and Johnathan Summers (Jennifer) of Puyallup, WA; one brother, David Summers (Karen) of VA; six grandchildren, Derek, Shalena, Dillon, Violet, Bryanna and Brant and three great grandchildren.
In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, there will be no service. Contributions in his memory may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
