Joan D. (Waltz) Grove

Joan D. Grove, of Centre Hall, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  She was 85.  Born August 4, 1939, in Aaronsburg, Joan was a daughter of the late Fred and Geraldine “Yearick” Waltz.  On May 31, 1959, she married Theodore F. “Ted” Grove, Sr. who preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2021. 

Joan is survived by four children, Theodore F. Grove, Jr., Darlene D. Gill (Bob, Violet V. Shaffer (Wayne) and Timothy L. Grove (Samantha): nine grandchildren, Nichole Griffin (Bill), Megan Grove (Brooks), Bobby Gill, Joshua Gill (Vanessa), Heidi Jo Johnson (Stephen), Savannah Grove (Kaihlil), Janet Grove, Coleen Collins (Blaise) and Abigail Stover (Keigan).  Also surviving are fourteen great grandchildren, Luke Grove, Gabriel Griffin, Riley Ralston, Amerie Sheffey, Andrea Sheffey, Carter Sheffey, Memphis Whiteside, Candice Johnson, Malcom Johnson, Jayden Allen, Alex Allen, Owen Alterio, Zadrian Alterio and Penelope Collins and three siblings, Dave Waltz (Janet), Freddy Waltz (Penny) and Cliff Waltz (Charolette).  In addition to husband, Joan was preceded in death by siblings, Dick Waltz, Ken Waltz, Juanita Evans and Janet Neighigh: one grandson, Franklin Grove and her daughter in law Amy Grove. 

Joan had been employed at the Penns Valley High School in the custodial department.  She attended the Fellowship Bible Church and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, crocheting and shopping.  She has been known to travel a few miles to find a good bargain.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 noon until 1:00 pm on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Covalt officiating.  Joan will be laid to rest in Farmers Mills Union Cemetery.  Contributions in memory of Joan may be given to Fellowship Bible Church, c/o Mike Covalt, 263 Reeder Road, Spring Mills, PA 16875
