John Howard Houser
Obituary
John H. Houser, of Spring Mills, passed away at Wynwood House at Salem Hill Haven on February 27, 2023. He was 93. Born March 25, 1929, in Reedsville, Mifflin County, John was a son of the late Frank Reed Houser and Sarah Anna Katherine “Mull” Houser. He was a 1947 graduate of the former Reedsville High School. On April 6, 1957, John married Shirley M. Shook, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2022
John farmed all his life. He delivered “Shook Ayrshire milk” to local businesses for many years. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg and the Centre County Farm Bureau.
John is survived by two sisters, Mary Heimbaugh of Belleville and Jane Taylor of Reedsville. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Wilde and two brothers, Frank Houser and infant brother, Harold Houser.
In accordance with John’s wishes, there are no public services. He and Shirley will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery in Spring Mills.
