Surrounded by her loving family, Joyce M. Bressler, of Spring Mills passed from this life on Saturday, January 21, 2023. She was 89. Born October 22, 1933, in Lock Haven, Joyce was a daughter of the late Calvin E. and Virginia “Egan” Dershem. She was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. On April 23, 1956, Joyce married David L. Bressler who preceded her in death on February 7, 1990.
Joyce was employed at the former Gettig Engineering in Spring Mills. Later she worked at Burkholder’s Market and lastly at Snappy’s in Centre Hall. Joyce was a member of the Gregg Twp Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, the Spring Mills Cemetery Association and the Grace United Church of Christ in Spring Mills where she enjoyed spending time with her church family. She also enjoyed flower gardening, going for walks and camping. Most of all Joyce loved to spend time with her family and cook for them.
Joyce is survived by one daughter, Kimberly J. Bressler Dershem (Ray) of Spring Mills with whom she resided; one son, Roger L. Bressler (Mary) of Spring Mills; siblings, Dorothy Reeder of Salona, Ruth Walk (Albert) of Castanea, Marian McKean of Jersey Shore and James Dershem (Nancy) of Farrandsville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, David W. Rummel (Amanda) of Spring Mills, Brianna Bressler of Pleasant Gap, Kenton Bressler (Liz) of Rebersburg, Nick Bressler of Millheim and nine great grandchildren, Lanna, Zachary, Kylie, Kaelynn, Kennedy, Kori, Brantley, Briar and Braelynn. In addition to her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Christy M. Rummel and brothers, Calvin and Elmer Dershem.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Grace United Church of Christ in Spring Mills, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Craig Munnell officiating. Burial will be private in the Spring Mills Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Joyce may be given to the Grace UCC, POB 313, Spring Mills, PA 16875.
