June L (McKean) Confer

June L. "McKean" Confer of State College, formerly of Spring Mills, passed away on March 1, 2025, at Harmony House where she was a resident.  Born on June 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late David and Bertha "Sheddy" McKean. She attended school in Howard.  On March 8, 1948, June was united in marriage to Francis E. "Doodle" Confer who preceded her in death on February 18, 2017.  

June was a housewife, mother, proud grandmother and a great grandmother of four.  She enjoyed tending her flower gardens, looking for quartz, sewing, and canning, along with fishing and raising peacocks.  She also enjoyed working on her family's genealogy. 

June is survived by her daughter Shawna McKean of Bellefonte; one son, Roy Steve Confer of Phillipsburg; one grandson, Travis M. Shawver (Jessica) of Bellefonte.  Four great grandchildren, Gabriel Shawver of York, Charlotte, Lilith and Amara Shawver all of Bellefonte.  June was the last of the McKean children.  In addition to her husband "Doodle", June was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary, one son, Harry J. Confer and siblings, Harry McKean, James McKean, Perry McKean, Fred McKean, Mae Falls, Laurabelle Falls, Trixie Wolfe, Violet Coldron and Irene Haines.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  June will be laid to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery at Spring Mills.
