Kathleen M. (Grove) Vonada

Surrounded by her loving family, Kathleen M. Vonada of Madisonburg, passed away peacefully at Centre Care in Bellefonte.  She was 74.  Born November 10, 1948, in Bellefonte, Kathleen was a daughter of the late Mylan E. and Florence M. (Condo) Grove.  On January 7, 1967, she married James C. Vonada who survives.

Kathleen was a 1966 graduate of Penns Valley High School.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, decorating her home and raising her family.  Kathleen was a loving mother, nanny and caregiver to many in the valley.  Caring for and helping others was something that came naturally to her.   In her spare time Kathleen enjoyed singing, watching game shows, caring for her plants and selling Avon.  Many knew her as the Avon Lady.  Kathleen also enjoyed hosting family get togethers where she was the life of the party.  Most of all she cherished the time spent with Jim, her children and grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, Kathleen is survived by her four children, Shelby Appell of FL, Jan Vonada (Shelly) of SC, Kristin Meiser (John) of NJ and Ashley Vonada (Mauricio) of MD: two sisters, Dolores Ruane (Thomas) and Barbara McNichol (Brian) and eight grandchildren, Nathan, Landon, Parker and Preston Appell, Samwel & Valerie Vonada and Sloane and Maeve Meiser. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 10:00 am until noon at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral service will follow with Pastor Teresa Hockenberry officiating.  Kathleen will be laid to rest in the UCC & Lutheran Cemetery in Madisonburg.  Contributions in memory of Kathleen may be given to https://www.psp.org or for mailing a check…CurePSP at 1216 Broadway 2nd floor, New York, NY 10001.
